Dr Sandra Wilson’s work is highly collaborative, working with scientists and anthropologists, for example. Her current body of work involves recovering precious metals from electronic waste such as computer circuit boards and mobile phones, using a hydrometallurgy process. With these e-waste metal solutions, she has created new surface treatments not seen before. As an academic at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design at the University of Dundee in Scotland, she has researched the lesser known silversmithing technique of Dutch Raising and organised the 2019 European Silversmiths Forum. With skills in hand raising, casting, and engraving, she creates innovative organic forms that are highly tactile, desirable and collectable.
